Hiya! My name's Terry J. Aman and in this, my 18th episode of VideoFuzzy the Soundtrack titled "Carnival," I celebrate artists in my collection beginning with the letter N.
I open with a nice comment from my friend Joe Koppinger about episode 17. You can learn more about what he gets up to pop culture and comic book-wise at his YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@CrazyHungarian/
Then, in a bit of Housekeeping, comments on potential parallels between a couple millennial releases and punk era music I'd touched on in episode 17, and a few new unmarketed features I've encountered in my Apple Music app functionality on my PC and share a few workarounds I've discovered.
My Title Track for this one, "Carnival," opens with Natalie Merchant's single by that name, which opens my conversation about Influences [artists with entire LPs in my collection] where I talk about Natalie Merchant's 1995 release "Tigerlily."
My Lost Tracks resumes a thread I'd brought up with my Apple Music app discussion, as well as a couple Nickelback songs and some easy listening and jazz music I recovered into my collection.
In other Influences, I talk about Nirvana, opening with a clip I tracked down of musician Maxwell Hughes covering their "Smells Like Teen Spirit," more at his Maxwell Hughes Music YouTube channel at https://bit.ly/4sZu93M Then comments on "Territorial Pissings" hand off to a discussion of Chris Gaines' "Right Now."
Additional Influences in my collection include No Doubt, Natalie Imbruglia, Nina Simone and Nicki French.
In Breakouts [artists with multiple songs in my collection], comments on Nickelback, Nat King Cole, Nine Inch Nails, and the contributions of Nathan Fillion and Neil Patrick Harris to the Joss Whedon musicals "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog" and "Commentary!"
Old Business pulls up the Monty Python's Flying Circus "Marilyn Monroe" sketch from their 1988 release "The Final Ripoff." My recording includes some audio from the "Pearl Harbor" sketch, posted to their YouTube channel at https://bit.ly/4cQcxSc. The original sketch is posted there as well: https://bit.ly/485JAPw
Under Sparks [artists with one song in my collection], I talk about Neoni, Nancy Sinatra, Nazareth, Never the Bride, Nice and Wild, New Stories, Nerf Herder, NVRLSS and Nikki Blonsky [et al.] in the absolute show-stopper finale from John Waters' 2007 remake of "Hairspray."
As always, any "music" or "singing" anyone thought they heard in this tiny indie podcast I can assure you that it wasn't. Any low-bar karaoke attempts were nothing more than simple sketch reference included for illustrative purposes to prompt listeners to track down and explore commercially available music through officially licensed sources and is by no means meant to infringe on anyone's copyright, licensing or distribution agreements. Go forth, buy songs and support the artists you love.
And for more, please add, subscribe and follow me wherever you get your podcasts, or contact me through the links provided or by emailing [email protected]. Happy listening!
