ep 18: water’s reflection

spiritface2face originated as an expressive college project through my internship at the Jackson Social Justice Legacy Scholarship. Prior to spiritface2face emerging, I embarked on my healing journey at the start of the pandemic to save my life and sanity. I have always been a deeply passionate person as it pertains to the rights of all people and a belief in true justice for the oppressed people around the world. As a deeply empathic individual, it took a lot of patience, forgiveness, endurance, release, support, and inner resourcefulness to be able to revive my spiritual agency the way I have. It is a continuous practice that I consciously engage with. I have experienced rebirth into new versions of myself with deeper compassion for myself and the world around me. Through my spiritual practice, I have felt immense guilt, shame, sorrow, and depletion for the ways in which I can afford to do this work and for the ways many suffer at the hands of imperialism and othering. With deep gratitude, I am able to transmute these darker emotions, and connect to the eternal light that surrounds us. I am reminded that we did not come into this life to suffer alone, or suffer at the hands of greed and extortion. With awareness and dedication to justice for oppressed people, I struggle within resistance and like many, find myself feeling a mix of emotions in the plight for freedom. As I grow within my resistance through reflection, unlearning, and conscious listening I remain steadfast in the belief that we have deep agency in being able to spread joy, love, restoration, and renewal to those who struggle to survive. From my personal observation, I feel as if the revolution will not sustain until we liberate ourselves emotionally. The liberation of our emotions is not finite and is ever evolving through the plight for revolution. We explore and connect to deep emotions of rage, confusion, and frustration for the ways in which we are policed and subjugated to harm and inhumane conditions, but our fatigue always settles given the energy it requires to name the abuse of capitalism. spiritface2face is endeavored to encourage rest for resistance, mindfulness for resistance, and a deep self return for a reclamation of our agency and will. When we refuse to believe that our emotions are small, our ability to emote can revolutionize a people. We will be able to reclaim and rejuvenate our ancestors will and the will for those to come. spiritface2face is inspired by the deep commitment to self love for the true love of one another. spiritface2face is eager to encourage folks to be unapologetic in what they carry to let go of believing they carry such weight alone. The belief that we are not doing enough can be resolved when we detach from the notion that our actions for liberation must be quantified instead of qualified. We must celebrate the ways in which we envision a new world. The disposability that kills all living beings and our mother planet continues when we dispose of the emotions we are afraid to face. spiritface2face strives to make internal work the site for external repair of the environments around us. The intricacies of liberation cannot be answered with internal work alone, but the centering of the belief that all people are worthy of peace must start with cultivating peace within ourselves. I am humbled, excited, and eager to grow spiritface2face with community. spiritface2face wishes you warmth and endurance for your personal expansion, and encourages you to not take your agency for granted.
