Ep. 18: What is a simple shift that can change how you parent? with Mel Peirce

Listen Later

Can a simple shift in your thoughts really change how you parent?

Mel Peirce is a long time working Mom, Wife and Entrepreneur. She first hired a coach to help her become a better leader at work, and found that it also made her a much better parent. She is now helping other parents learn to keep their cool and communicate so their kids will listen better. Her ultimate mission is to build a new emotionally healthy and happy generation from the ground up and believes that this is how parents can change the world - one beautiful child at a time.

In this episode Melissa and Mel discuss:

*Your self talk and your thoughts affect how you feel as a parent

*Should…leads you down a road of shame

*Judgement and Shame shut the learning centers down in the brain

*Shifting to what do I really want to do

*Have to VS Want To

*Breathing technique…smell the roses, blow out the candle

*Time blocking and being intentional before starting each activity and shifting how you are thinking about the activity

*Do you keep a to do list in your head for your kids during every interaction?

*What is the result you want to create?

*Keeping an open line of communication with your kids
