Listen Later

Jack Unterweger was born in Austria in 1950. His mother was a sex worker and that impacted him at a very early age. By the time he was 24, he had spent several years in prison for theft, pimping, and physical violence and in 1974 he was convicted of murder for strangling a sex worker, Margaret Schäfer, with her own bra. Listen to hear how he duped a nation into thinking he was rehabilitated, wrote his way to an early release, and went on to be known as the "Austrian Ted Bundy."
