William Bonin, also known as the "Freeway Killer" and the "Monarch of the Freeway," was an
American serial killer who terrorized Southern California in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
He was responsible for the murders of at least 21 young men and boys, whom he lured,
tortured, and killed along the region's freeways. Bonin's crimes were characterized by their
brutality and sadism, and he became one of the most notorious serial killers in American
history.
