Protect and Serve

Ep 2 - From Frontline Bobby to No.10 Downing Street

Listen Later

Rory has spent more than a decade working on law and order, from fighting crime and disorder on the beat as a neighbourhood police officer in south London to advocating for anti-crime policies in the corridors of Whitehall and Parliament.

Most recently, Rory served as Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on Justice and Home Affairs in the No10 Policy Unit. He is unique in having served as both a Constable and to have spent time at the very heart of Government. He has seen the reality of the frontline, the reality faced by victims of crime and disorder, and the barriers in Westminster and elsewhere that prevent us from making the UK the safest place to live, work, and raise a family.

Having been the victim of a serious crime in the line of duty, when he was shot at by the suspect he was chasing, Rory understands all too well the risks that police officers take on behalf of the public, and is clear that in striving for world-class policing, we must never take for granted the very many good crime-fighting cops who we all rely on to keep us safe.

Rory regularly writes for and appears across a range of media, including The Daily Telegraph, The Spectator, ConservativeHome, GB News and LBC. He has spoken at conferences both in the UK and overseas.

Rory also writes On The Beat – a weekly newsletter about policing, crime, and public safety.
