Do I need / want the money? If the answer is yes then you're not ready. 

Do I have the personal characteristics to succeed investing? If the answer is yes, that's a good sign. 

Do I understand my options and what I'm investing in? If you answered No to No. 1 and Yes to No.2, as long as you start smart, the understanding will come with experience. 

Investing is a reflection of human behavior so the more in touch with yourself, the more success you can have.
