On October 22, 2022, a shooting occurred at the Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, resulting in two deaths. The accused, Nestor Oswaldo Hernandez, a 30-year-old parolee with a lengthy criminal record, was arrested at the scene and charged with capital murder related to the two deaths. Hernandez had been granted permission to be at the hospital to see his girlfriend give birth, but he accused her of cheating on him and pistol-whipped her in the face. He then allegedly said, “Whoever comes in this room is going to die with us”. The two killed were reportedly killed when they got too close to Hernandez. Hernandez was found guilty of capital murder on November 10, 2023
