How important were the Dutch Netherlands at the close of the 16th century? What role did they play on the Continent? In this episode, we will continue our refresher and primer of the primary people groups represented in the North American Theater of European colonization. The two early heavyweights for our story are the Dutch Netherlands and England. Their stories are fairly intertwined. They needed one another. Much of their future success was inextricably linked. Our current focus will be on the Dutch quest for independence. Their quest helped give rise to the concept of the modern nation state. It is quite a story.
