Ep 20. Becoming Emotionally Stable

Listen Later

I’ve come to understand that anger is a secondary emotion; you must uncover the primary emotion that gave rise to it, and these primary emotions are often the internal responses you attached to past events.

The next time you find yourself triggered by someone’s comment or attitude, ask yourself these questions:

  • Will this situation produce patience in me if I endure it rather than run away?
  • Why does this person’s action stress me?
  • Is it because they are mirroring my behaviour?
  • Why am I choosing to continue to interact with them?
  • When you’re emotionally unstable, people can often be judgmental about your behaviour; they keep their distance or avoid you by all means without trying to understand your underlying pain. You’re likely not to be recommended for a promotion at work; if you run your own business, you may find it hard to keep customers.

My friend, what good is there in holding on to bad memories anyway?

In this episode, I share my experience, signs to watch out for if you’re emotionally unstable and my seven tips for becoming emotionally stable.
