Ep 20 - Domestic Violence

New Zealand has one of the highest rates of sexual and domestic violence in the developed world, with police responding to a family violence incident every four minutes. Family violence is estimated to cost the country between NZ$4.1bn and $7bn a year.

And yet because we hold the values of Respect & Family so highly we get stuck by them when they show up on the negative side of things seen in these stats & others like these above.

I’ve lived through it and then had to live with it as an adult trying not to repeat it. I can’t say I didn’t make some big mistakes but by owning up to those mistakes fully even when my head tried to defend me it gave us an opportunity to move past it. It is one of my proudest accomplishments in my life. To have a healthy functioning family.
