Ep 20 ft. Pa: How Do You Raise A Daughter Today?

Listen Later

What does it take to raise a daughter in today’s world?

My father knew what pressure looked like. He lived with it every day, in uniform, in silence. But when it came to raising me; he never passed that pressure on.

He taught with presence, not prescriptions. He never asked me to become someone I wasn’t. He simply held space for who I was becoming.

And now, I have a daughter too. And I find myself wondering…what parts of his parenting will live on through me?What will she remember ; about being heard, about being held?

In this episode, I speak to my father. A retired police officer, a quiet observer, and a man who showed me that peace is power.

We spoke about raising daughters in today’s world and what it really takes to help them handle it, without hardening.
