Jody and her brother Mark go on their yearly summer trip to visit their grandparents and eat pancakes. Turns out farmhand Stanley learned how to read and is bringing his straw scarecrow buddies to life so he can choose pie flavors. Moral of the story is don't get between tweens and their pancakes.
