Statistics show that 1 in 9 new mothers experience some form of Postpartum Depression. That number shrinks based on a variety of additional factors. Hear my conversation with Kimberly Wilkerson, pre-med student at UC Riverside School of Medicine. Kim is part of the Future Physician Leaders program. She and her team are working on a community health project determined to raise awareness about postpartum mental health in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. While their program may be area specific, the topic of postpartum depression is something to be discussed by all so that the stigma and misconceptions about this health condition are dispelled.
