This episode of Dream Day Radio is all about what Hannah would have done differently if she could go back and redo her own wedding. The main thing is that she wishes she would have chosen a photographer based on different values than she did, and relied less on popularity and more on skill.
Hannah’s photographer was “Instagram famous,” and initially that drew her in. Yet when it came down to it, this professional wasn’t equipped to capture her wedding in a candid way. Since Hannah broke her leg six days before her wedding, she needed someone to capture the genuine uniqueness of her wedding day.
There are a lot of beautiful moments that happen between posed photos, and if documenting those memories is important to you, you should have a photographer that’s able capture them. If she had asked her photographer to view full galleries before making the choice to hire, she would have been equipped with the right information.
Secondly, Hannah wishes she had a more accessible reception, especially for the more mature attendees. Hannah had some other hurdles helping her grandparents attend her wedding, so she recommends helping them find a ride and figure out logistics so that they don’t have to figure it out on their own.
Lastly, she wishes she felt less pressure to match the number of bridesmaids to groomsmen. At the end of the day, no one really cares about the symmetry between parties. When it comes to your wedding, sometimes the things you think matter don’t, while the things you don’t consider up front end up being more important to you later.
