In 1977, the US Justice Department sought to revoke the citizenship of a Ukrainian immigrant they believed to be guilty of World War II war atrocities. For the next 35 years, John Demjanjuk, an auto factory worker from Seven Hills, endured deportation hearings in the US, murder trials in Israel and Germany, and was almost hanged. But there are still questions about whether he was the sadistic guard he was accused of being.
