Why, because it's potentially illegal manipulation of the stock by a named executive. Waste of your taxpayer dollars you say? Guess what - it is your retirement income that capitalizes mutual funds as well as institutional equity funds (yes, even hedge funds that may be long or short the stock). We can't have cowboy CEOs whipsawing stocks with off-the-cuff Tweets or verbal remarks. Sorry ladies and gentleman. We have securities law for a reason.
