Today’s episode I am joined by the head ecologist for the Wisconsin Mr. Kevin Wallenfang. Wisconsin recently announced that it is going to have its first ever elk hunt. The Wisconsin Elk re-introduction is a huge success story and it is super interesting to dive into it with Kevin on this episode. In this episode, Kevin Wallenfang shares the history of the elk re-introduction into Wisconsin along with some of the highs and lows that have come with those efforts. We also talk about the upcoming hunt that they have planned for this fall and dive into the decision to actually start harvesting some of the bulls from this small herd. It is interesting to hear about the heard dynamics with such a small population size.
