A trend is clearly emerging. Trudeau and the Liberal party are quite interested in regulating the internet in various ways. The latest installment in this saga is the Online Harms Bill in Canada. This would create a new regulator within the country called the Digital Safety Commissioner. They would be in charge of ensuring online platforms abide by guidelines of generally acceptable content as defined by the government. We discuss this and highlight the pros and cons.
