What’s your relationship to the word “impulse”? Does it bring up good feelings or bad?
This is episode 2 of our season dedicated to cultivating play the SIMPLE way. Episode 1 focused on Starting Small, and episode 2 will focus on the “I” in SIMPLE: Impulse.
Impulse is a loaded term in a culture. We’re trained from a young age that impulses can’t be trusted, that they need to be suppressed, and that an adult is someone who “controls their impulses.”
But what if impulses were the key to your joy?
The next step to cultivating play in your everyday life is facing your impulses–and relearning that there are many impulses you can trust.
From grind culture, performance, and “good girl” mentality–this episode explores all the ways our connection to desires and impulses was eroded over time. TJ and Bailey share their personal impulse suppression and liberation stories as a way to help you reconnect to your own impulses towards joy.
The episode closes with a “Do one thing” experiential to help listeners make the connection between joy, play, and impulses.
