FitzChivalry Farseer has taken the name of Tom Badgerlock, has taken in a boy named Mishap, and taken a break from the world. He's 35 years old in a small cottage, raising his 15 year old boy and keeping Nighteyes company. The peace is shattered when Chade, his old mentor, comes to visit.
