Several members of the building and realty sectors are facing serious problems regarding financing. Accordingly, this segment of “Building Knowledge With The Building and Realty Institute (BRI)” featured a discussion on the current conditions of the Finance Sector and their effects on the building and realty industries. Russell Nova, the Principal of Cornerstone Capital of N.Y., was the guest. He thoroughly reviewed the major factors currently affecting those in the Commercial Real Estate Sector. There has been a great deal of recent coverage in the media regarding one-fifth, or $929 billion, of the $4.7 trillion of outstanding Commercial Mortgages held by U.S. lenders and investors coming due in 2024, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA)’s 2023 Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Survey of Loan Maturity Volumes. Some are saying the situation could cause a crisis in the U.S. Banking System. Russell Nova offered his views on the situation. He also issued his opinions on media reports that have said the situation means trouble for America’s small and medium-sized commercial banks and private mortgage lenders who are feeling the strain of America’s high interest-rate environment. The episode also featured 1) A look at what is currently happening with lending on specific property types; 2) What are currently the most popular Loan Products; and 3) Russell Nova’s outlook for the finance sector for the remainder of 2024, as well as for 2025.
