Liz is a lover of expeditionary wandering on foot or skis. I'm a mother and educator who currently works for an avalanche education non-profit as a curriculum writer and education director. Her outdoor resume is vast and it includes many grand adventures, including pumping at the summit of Mt. Rainier after guiding a trip up the mountain.
This conversation is broad reaching exploring the nature of being a woman in the wilderness, what it means to transition from wilderness/mountain guide to mom, how we hope to change the view of wilderness to one that is more reciprocal in nature, and finally how we are working to bring a more feminine approach to outdoor adventuring - moving us away from consumption (e.g. bagging and tagging) to one that is co-created with place.
Unfortunately, For some unknown reason there were some technical difficulties with this recording - so at one point my audio fades out and sadly our conversation is cut short. However, this conversation was so juicy I didn't want to loose what the zoom gods decided to keep for us. I hope you enjoy it and I'll try to get Liz back sometime soon so we can finish our conversation where we left off.
