Cancel culture, a force many of us have become familiar with in online spaces, has become a form of online policing of sorts. As members of the social space that is the internet, we have taken it upon ourselves to engage in a culture in which we use the internet and social media as a forum to debate opinions, call out unacceptable views/behaviour, and decide what is right and wrong.
With the concept of cancel culture, however, comes growing debates on its utility to bring about accountability, whether its a form of punishment, and if it's overall a good or bad thing on the internet. With this, the question is, is cancel culture beneficial to cyberspace, or is it harmful?
