The first, dubbed "The First Lady of the Republican Party" by her colleagues, became the 6th woman ever elected to the US Congress and then went on to be reelected 17 more times; The other, a national icon for the Thai people, sacrificed life and limb in service to her country: Edith Nourse Rogers and Queen Suriyothai.
