Ep. 27 - Good Beer Week Is Back, with Luke Robertson (Ale Of A Time)

Listen Later

Good Beer Week began in 2011 with the first festival being thrown together by a very small team of beer lovers in a few week, which resulted in over 50 events in 40 venues in Melbourne, Victoria. Showcasing the social, flavoursome and diverse world of, the event was a huge success and continues to grow year on year.
In just eight years, Good Beer Week has grown from the spark of an idea to a global festival made up of more than 300 diverse and innovative events across Melbourne and Victoria that attracts seventy five thousand attendees from across Australia and overseas.
It is heralded as one of the great beer events of the world, culminating in the Australian International Beer Awards at the Great Australia Beer Spectapular at the end of the week. Good Beer Week's goal is to become the largest and most professional beer festival in the Asia Pacific, and I would say they are well on their way.
In this episode I talk with Good Beer Week's Program Manager, Luke Robertson (also known for being the creator of Ale of A Time and author of Keg, Bottle, Can) about some of his favourite upcoming events in the 2019 Good Beer Week Program. He also shares his his favourite memories from the past 8 years and gives me some advice for my first trip to Good Beer Week this year.
