We've all heard the saying that in order to change the world, we have to start with ourselves. What you are going to learn today will take that common and well-meaning sentiment to a whole other level. Today I'm talking with the kind and wise Kathleen Rice who is on the teaching staff at the Nanci Luna Jiménez Institute for Social Transformation (LJIST). We're talking about adultism - the systematic oppression of children and how adultism is the breeding ground for all other forms of oppression - racism, sexism, heterosexism, ageism, ableism, etc.
Hurt people hurt people. In order for us to stop participating in and upholding systems of oppression, we have to heal our own wounds of adultism. Hurt people might hurt people, but healed people can heal the world.
Big and important stuff, friends. Thank goodness Kathleen shares with us a simple and powerful way to get started.
