In this episode, I share what I've been up to over the last couple of months with implementing the Working Genius model across my business and family. After introducing the Working Genius concept developed by Pat Lencioni and The Table Group, I explain the six genius types that make up the WIDGET model: Wonder, Invention, Discernment, Galvanizing, Enablement, and Tenacity. I discuss how my entire team and family have taken the Working Genius assessment, revealing interesting insights about our natural tendencies and work preferences. I share personal examples of how understanding these genius types has impacted our business operations, including a recent hire whose TE (Tenacity and Enablement) genius perfectly complements my own ID (Invention and Discernment) tendencies. The episode emphasizes the importance of understanding your strengths and weaknesses as a leader, being open about your frustrations, and allowing team members to utilize their unique genius types to benefit the business. I also discuss how implementing this model has created positive changes in our small team by giving us a common language and framework to discuss work styles and preferences. While this episode takes a step back from specific marketing tactics, it provides valuable insights into how understanding personality types and work preferences can lead to better team dynamics and business success.
