Compound exercises are exercises that use multiple muscle groups at the same time. Thus, making sure you keep your kinetic chain stable and functional is key to lifting the most amount of weight you can safely.
Effectively being able to push the weight around safely in theory is what keeps you safe outside of your workouts. Being able to perform these movements with weight makes your body more functional not the other way around. Avoiding these lifts because you hurt yourself is a confession you aren't doing them exactly how they should because Deadlift & Squats are really a way of life!
