Ep. 28 Ebony & I story

Listen Later

Ebony Acton’s enterprising spirit has

allowed her to chameleon as an activist,

beauty consultant, confidence coach,

entrepreneur, model, spiritual/mental health

advocate, and self-published author. Her

founding philanthropic advancements

highlight how home insecurities are

contributing factors in the school-to-prison

pipeline. This inspired her to create the Bold

‘n’ Bookish Campaign in 2021.

Her career in pageants began when she won

Miss Virginia State University 2016-2017.

She pursued her pageant career by winning

Miss District of Columbia for America

Strong 2021 as Most Congenial, Photogenic

and Most Whimsical National Costume; top

12 Miss DC USA 2022 and Miss

Congeniality; top 12 Miss DC USA 2023

and Community Service Award Winner.

Ultimately, she is the current Miss Summit

United States 2024. In July 2024, she will

compete for the international title in the

Philippines.

Overcoming home insecurities like

homelessness, impoverished neighborhoods,

domestic violence, molestation, bullying,

and discrimination taught her the importance

of resilience. Our ugly environments and

circumstances are not to keep us down in the

mud, but to sprout up tall above it all.

Among many community initiatives, her

favorite memories include: participating in a

motivational session for the U.S.

Taekwondo Academy; crowning young girls

to princesses for a day; partnering with Judy

Makes Juices to fundraise funds for

humanitarian organizations; traveling to

Zambia, Africa for a missions trip for well

installations; partnering with She Is

Incorporated’s She Is Prom for teenage

moms; virtually, participating in Stand Up

for Kids’ Annual 5K National Race to End

Youth Homelessness, and supporting
