State Rep. Hugh D. Shine has served the Bell County area for two separate tenures in the Texas Legislature. In 1986, he was the first Republican since Reconstruction to flip the seat, serving from 1986-1991. He returned to the Legislature in 2017 and has experience serving on the House Ways & Means, Business & Industry and Juvenile Justice & Family Issues committees. In this episode, we discuss the current political climate, the pre-Coronavirus economy, and what Republicans did in the 80s to build momentum and eventually flip the state.
