It was indeed a very demanding question I have been dealing with, namely: “What can Christian theology contribute to the understanding of economics and the promotion of an enterprise economy built on solid ethical foundations?” Nevertheless, I do not shy away from offering you two take-aways: (1) The often-seen contradiction between Christian faith and support for the free market economy does not exist, I think. (2) Even more important: Especially in the field of economics and business, we need to remind ourselves that every thought, every action, every conceivable aspect of human life must be subdued by biblical principles. There are no neutral zones outside of God’s providence and God’s law-order. Economics and business practise are no exceptions.
