A review of the latest conditions of the remodeling markets in the Westchester County and Mid-Hudson Region, as well as in the N.Y. metropolitan area, was the topic of this episode of “Building Knowledge With The Building and Realty Institute (BRI).” Michael Murphy, Chair of the Remodelers Advisory Council (RAC) of the BRI and Michael Kowgios, a Board Members of the Remodelers Advisory Council (RAC) of the BRI, were the guests. Michael Murphy is the Director of Business Development for Murphy Brothers Contracting, which is based in Mamaroneck, N.Y. Michael Kowgios is the principal of Sunrise Building and Remodeling, which is based in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. Issued discussed during the segment included: 1) The continuing labor shortages that the Building and Remodeling Sectors are facing; 2) The costs of Building Materials; 3) Why it’s important for Clients to receive a very detailed scope of work along with their prospective Contractors’ estimate; 4) The importance of Written Communications  between Remodelers and their Clients; 5) Why a tentative “Look Ahead Schedule” from the General Contractor is beneficial to all parties; 6) Why it is important for clients to get to know their General Contractor’s Sub-Contractors; 7) What will happen with the Remodeling Markets in the Westchester County and Mid-Hudson Region, and the New York metro area, during the third quarter and beyond.
