The cousins meet in person to discuss the news of the day and discuss where conservatives and America are at this point. Beginning with the question of what radicalized them (abortion, moochers, and Covid), Evan and Auguste then get into the news with the Karmelo Anthony trial and consider its wider implications on race relations. Will a conviction spur a new round of “mostly peaceful protests” or will it finally help Americans turn the page on outdated narratives about systemic racism? Somehow, Auguste and Evan conclude their talk by discussing two new indie horror movies, Obsession and Backrooms, and what their success portends for American culture in the near future. Through it all, they end up weaving like Trump, taking many strains of thought and synthesizing a beautiful tapestry of prognostications. It’s all connected, man.
Essays referenced in this episode:
- “Black Power in Decline” by Scott Greer
- “The Stabbing in Frisco that Everyone Saw Coming” by Teresa Avila
