Ep. 29_Well Being at Work_Jim Clifton and Jim Harter

Listen Later

In this week's edition of Philosopher Insights, I introduce you to my favorite insights from 'Wellbeing at Work'  by Jim Clifton and Jim Harter.

"The new workforce  -  especially younger generations  -  want their work to have a deep mission and purpose, and they don't want old-style command-and-control bosses.  They want coaches who inspire them, communicate with them, and develop their strengths."

This book hit the nail on the head when it came to what I believe is critical for organizations today. A focus on mental health goes beyond the token nature of what most organizations are doing today.

The most important people in organizations today to lead employees through challenging times are the managers. Employees need coaches more than they need the typical manager.  Organizations must focus on upskilling their managers to become better coaches in order to meet the demands of their employees.

I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to make a difference in their organization, especially those that are in roles of management or involved in organizational transformation.

Enjoy!
