They talk about how wildly different 2 people can see the same relationship, how different our expectations can be from our reality, and how anyone can read into the "signs" a little too deeply to see what we want versus what is. A slight detour from the "com" in rom-com, but this movie still plays rent-free in our minds from time to time.
