Now living almost 20 years in Las Vegas (Nuwuvi Land) she has deemed it her home and works abundantly to build creative and resourceful projects collectively within the community. From coordinating cultural events, mutual aid programs, and land protection campaigns, with the main goal of building a better future for her daughter, Quetzalli and all her generation. “Keep working as a collective to grow outwards like roots, meant to connect. Break the colonial/capitalist system that grows upwards to step on others that is hierarchy.”
Fifth Sun Project is a community empowering grassroots organization that facilitates stronger connections within BIPOC communities to amplify issues on social justice, cultural awareness and preservation. Fifth Sun Project works within and outside their network to facilitate collaborations between different organizations, with the purpose of bridging different groups together. FSP focuses on the vocal elements of Art & Activism, sharing the connection of both types of advocacy work together to make change within the colonial systems that we are learning to withstand. In strengthening relationships, we seek to build-up and educate ourselves in understanding different struggles socially, culturally, and environmentally, as well as uplifting our own Indigenous roots as Purepecha descendants.
