Manon is 24 years old and has been writing poetry for as long as she can remember. Born and raised in Western Massachusetts, she first found her love for spoken word in high school thanks to an amazing educator and mentor. She then entered a small open mic scene in New Hampshire during her college years. Manon moved to Denver in 2021 and has been honing her craft since then, entering the local slam scene, and trying to use poetry both as a means of sense making and sharing experiences with others.
Whether it’s her reflections on homelessness & social work, or her experience with personal losses — grief weaves its way into much, if not all, of Manon’s poetry. When introducing her, a fellow poet in the scene recently said : “I love when this person gets on the mic, because you can just feel how much she cares” — and that is what means the most to Manon. You can hear more of what she has to say at the Mercury Cafe on Sunday nights or The Corner Beet on Mondays.
