Who's ready to rage?!?! In this episode, we dive into the world of punk through the eyes of Michelle Cruz Gonzales, who was the drummer for one of the most iconic female punk bands, Spitboy. In our reading of her book "The Spitboy Rule: Tales of a Xicana in a Female Punk Band", which documents her time with the band, we discuss race, class distinctions, gender, and give our thoughts on the riot grrrl movement. We chose the song "Mi Cuerpo Es Mio", which was the title that was suggested by Gonzales, and got the band accused of cultural appropriation. We discuss more about that in the episode.
