We're kicking off our Snow White Month with the middle grade book Grump by Liesl Shurtliff! This take on the fairy tale is told from the perspective of Borlen a.k.a. Grump, one of the seven dwarfs. Having spent his whole life underground but wishing to visit the surface, Borlen finds himself in a predicament when he is magically bound to follow the orders of both Queen E.V.I.L. and her stepdaughter, Snow White. We discuss the creative world building, the nods to the Disney version, a fun and fresh take on the prince and the kiss, and our newfound cravings for diamonds and rubies!
