In This #episode of the Breaking the Barrier #Podcast, I speak a little about #soul #searching and how it can affect your #life. I am doing a bit of soul searching in my own #personal life now that I have been thrust into a period of no #running. It's one of the reasons I have gone a bit dark on social media lately and have maybe seemed a bit quiet. I am trying to get back to myself a little bit to figure out the next chapter of my life-- whatever that may be. Obviously, I will get back to running as soon as I can but until then, it's time to search for the answers that will take me to the next level in my life.
Soul searching can really help you figure out who you are and what makes you happy. In this episode, I go into a few things that can help you along this journey. Some of the main bullet points are:
1. Look at your personal relationships. What is your relationship like with those around you and, more importantly, yourself. Are you able to just BE with yourself without feeling anxious or distracted? If you can't, why not?
2. Look at your family family relationships. Do you have or do you feel like you have the support you need from your family? Can you share with them your feelings about where you are in your life? If you don't have a strong family support system, do you have friends or support groups you can turn to?
3. Look at your relationship with work. Are you happy at your job or career? You're there 30-60 hours a week. It's important to feel fulfilled. What steps can you take to move closer to a job that you actually look forward to go to? Without taking extreme steps too quickly, what can you do? Put the value on it.
4. Look at your relationship with nature. When was the last time you looked at nature without wanting to grab your phone to take a picture right away? Letting nature connect with you is an important piece in understanding your place in it. When you are in nature, are you distracted? Why do you feel distracted? Try to stay in the moment and enjoy what is going on around you, rather than letting it pass you by. Look at it with your own eyes rather than through the eyes of technology.
