After the bizarre disappearance of France’s alleged first-ever inventor of the “Kintograph” moving motion camera, a new way of entertainment and culture was born. While the US was in the midst of new progressivism, many were eager to learn how this medium could make a market, and as today’s episode indulges, these “Stars” were prominent during the Silent Film Era from the late 1890s to the 1940s. Many of us don't consider how these girls were treated behind the scenes-How much were they paid? How old were they really? And How long were they expected to work? Today we’ll not only be talking about the obscure origins and corruption playing a role in the silent film era but also the racism, political agendas, exploitation, and criminal negligence with dangerous conditions that led to tragedies, humiliation, and suspicion that still plagues the industry to this day
