On this episode of The Life of Phys Podcast, I sit down with Bryan Brock, a Toronto-based artist, photographer, designer, and filmmaker whose work documents the beautiful and often untold stories of everyday life in the city.
Bryan’s photography and creative work explore powerful social themes, including race, family, community, culture, and capitalism. His ability to weave these intersections into visual storytelling has made his work both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Over the course of his career, Bryan has collaborated with major global brands such as Adidas, American Express, Foot Locker, Warner Music, Uninterrupted, and Invisalign. His exhibitions have been shown in Toronto, New York, and Seattle, and in 2022 he self-published his first book, Same-Difference. Bryan has also been featured in numerous interviews and is a proud member of Gallery 44 Centre for Contemporary Photography.
Beyond his personal practice, Bryan works with The Remix Project, an organization dedicated to leveling the playing field for talented youth who face barriers in pursuing careers in arts and entertainment.
In this episode, Bryan shares:
His journey as a multidisciplinary artist and photographer
How he documents everyday urban life in Toronto
The themes of race, family, community, culture, and capitalism in his work
Insights from working with Adidas, Warner Music, and other major brands
The story behind his book Same-Difference
