We return to Scarlet in the Rieux tavern enjoying the company of the locals. After a daring speech on the bar, Scarlet has a bit of a disagreement with some of the bar patrons about the well being of her grandmother.

A new face in the tavern steps in, revealing a bit of a violent streak and an overindulgent appetite. Scarlet’s new acquaintance has a proposition for her, but Scarlet may have bigger things on her mind.
