In this segment, Sandy Phillips Kirkham discusses how she was able to overcome the trauma of being abused by her youth pastor at age 16 and how after 27 years of silence she finally found her voice. She shares the healing process and what that looked like in the face of pain and anger.

WHO IS SANDY?
Sandy and her husband enjoy life with their two grown children, two granddaughters and two well-behaved dogs. They reside in Cincinnati, Ohio. After experiencing clergy sexual abuse at age 16 by her youth pastor and remaining silent for 27 years, she now uses her voice to advocate for victims and changes in the church. She has spoken before the Ohio Senate and a Maryland court.
She serves on the board of COCA -Council on Child Abuse, is a spokesperson the Hope of Survivors Ministry. She tells her story in her book “Let Me Prey Upon You”
