Kris & David are back this week with a Patreon pick, as Mike Poulin put down the $25 for us to talk about the week-plus that was April 6-13, 1986. We start off with the WWF, which of course means WrestleMania 2—which was covered unusually in-depth by mid-1980s Observer standards—as we talk about both the business end in-ring ends of the show, which, at that time, featured Dave Meltzer's pick for the worst match of all time. We then go International, talking about Hiroshi Wajima starting up his training in the All Japan dojo, rumors of Lex Luger heading to New Japan, the death of El Solitario, and more. Back in the United States, we talk about the burgeoning babyface indie scene, some great Memphis TV featuring Jos LeDuc as well as Jeff Jarrett’s first TV match, Dick Slater whipping Sting's ass in the locker room (complete with Tracy Smothers’ eyewitness account), the Freebirds teasing a breakup in Dallas, and, among other things, ”Baby Bull" Leon White getting an AWA World Heavyweight Title program with champion Stan Hansen. We then close with an unusually slim Jim Crockett Promotions section, but it features some great Ric Flair vs. Ricky Morton feud clips from a weekend where they dominated the TV shows. All that and much more on a WrestleMania-heavy edition of Between The Sheets!
