 ⁃ Court asked to nulify General Ali’s candidacy sighting incapacity: Through their lawyers, Kiiza & Mugisha Advocates, the petitioners argue that nominating the visibly frail and immobile 86-year-old retired general is unconstitutional and undermines the principles of effective representation and good governance as enshrined in Uganda’s 1995 Constitution.

 ⁃ 100 Pupils Hospitalised After Taking Mental Health Sedative Instead of Dewormer. More than 100 pupils at Kajumbajumba Primary School in Ntungamo District were hospitalized after receiving the wrong medication during a routine school health exercise, prompting an urgent investigation by authorities.

Swangz Avenue has served MC Kats and Dubai-based promoter Zack Maya (of Vibes Promotions) with a notice of intention to sue for alleged trademark and copyright infringement. Demands: Swangz Avenue is seeking UGX 1 billion in damages and an additional UGX 90 million to cover legal costs.

 ⁃ Parliament has approved the US$121,961,000 (UGX425.020 Billion) from the African Development Fund to export electricity to South Sudan despite Uganda grappling with low connections of 25.3% to the national grid, and with only about 15% enjoying reliable electricity

 ⁃ Singapore passes law to allow caning as punishment for scammers: The parliament passed the amendments to the criminal law on Tuesday. Convicted scammers, syndicate members and recruiters can receive from six to 24 strokes of a cane, depending on the severity of their offences.

 ⁃ Shaq’s $300,000 Range Rover stolen en route to Atlanta shop for custom seat installation. A $300,000 Range Rover, owned by Shaquille O’Neal, has been stolen on its way to receive a custom seat installation from a shop in Atlanta, and the police are on the case.

 ⁃ Indonesian Man Hands Over Wife to Her Lover to Settle Infidelity Peacefully, Receives a Cow in Return. A man from southern Indonesia who caught his wife cheating handed her to her lover under a centuries-old tribal custom and accepted a cow and some cash in return.
