Ep. 36 Growth is Malefic

Listen Later

Welcome to another Scarlet Muse radio hour episode: solo episodes where I give a tour of the inside of my mind:

Here's what been up this week:

I think growth is malefic.

Malefic energy separates, limits, constricts, ends, and pokes. The malefic planets, the ones who are responsible for brining this energy into our charts and lives, are Mars and Saturn. Because of the prefix, mal, malefic energy can be interpreted as “bad” but that is only one facet. A river is limited and constrained by its banks but without them the water wouldn’t flow, marine life couldn’t grow, and the whole thing would be swampy and kind of meh. The banks are devoted to the water in the same way that malefic energy is devoted to success and wellbeing.

Working with Death Magick, ending things, and creating containers for death to happen, malefic energy is definitely present.

However, it’s in service to growth and development. The destruction and witness clears the path for creative and magickal expansion. The most success and wellbeing in magick and in everything comes from accepting and working within the limits at hand.

The key limit I work with in my practice is attachment to an old of doing/being. This attachment shares the space available for a new thing, for being a new way and enjoying bigger magick, so when it is left untended, there is not as much energetic space for new magickal and creative works to root, and they may be slow, or stale, or not hold.

Reverence and care for the malefic process within growth honours what was and facilitates the transition into what will be.

Think actually separating, that was then, this is now.

Think actually feeling closure and meaning it.

Think actually enjoying reminiscing on who you used to be and what you use to do instead of feeling an awkward mix of grief and avoidance.

This is Death Magick and this is why growth is malefic.
