Statistics:

1.      Every year, an average woman trashes about 150 kilograms of nonbiodegradable waste. In India alone, 12.3 billion pads are wasted annually, and 1,13,000 metric tons of annual menstrual waste. [https://www.worldbank.org/en/topic/water/brief/menstrual-health-and-hygiene]

2.      Conventional disposable sanitary napkins tend to be made of 90% plastic. If we consider the additional materials, such as packaging, plastic wings,

adhesives and super absorbent gels (plastic) – each pad contains the equivalent of four plastic bags.
