It spurred the #IamVanessaGuillen hashtag and subsequent legislation of the same name, included in a bill signed into law by President Biden this year. Sidenote: Vanessa is one of 39 soldiers who died or went missing from Fort Hood in 2020 alone and base officials have been strangely quiet about their inability to keep servicemembers safe.
